METHOD & SOURCES
Clear dates need
clear boundaries.
Here is what the calculator does, where the references come from, and what remains unknown.
The evidence

| Source checked | |
| Stated scope | U.S. departures; five years of aggregated Google Flights data. |
| Statistics used | Only the Thanksgiving and Christmas day offsets shown in the holiday guide. |
We use the article’s main text, not its experimental AI summaries. The report is a reference, not a live data feed.
Missing source details
The readable 2026 report does not specify:
- The exact start and end dates of the five-year observation period.
- Trip duration, one-way or return-trip criteria, market count, or sample size.
- Exact holiday departure/return boundaries, or the domestic/international composition of the holiday sample.
We leave these unknown. The 2025 report has a separate methodology note. Its dates and sampling conditions have not been imported into this 2026 tool.
These gaps limit applicability to any individual itinerary. If the reference does not fit your use, choose a custom window and provide your own offsets. Those values are arithmetic inputs and carry no verified airfare meaning.
The date calculation
For departure date D, an earlier offset F and a later offset N:
Earlier edge = D − F calendar days
Later edge = D − N calendar days
Both endpoints are included. The larger offset produces the earlier date.
The comparison date is before the range, inside it, or after it. Departure-day and past-departure calculations get a separate status. These labels describe dates, never the price or quality of a ticket.
The initial comparison date comes from your device’s local calendar, not a fixed “today.” Once entered, dates are handled as whole calendar days. There are no flight times or time-zone conversions; daylight-saving changes do not add or remove a day. Leap days and month/year boundaries are included.
Supported input years are 1900–2100. Custom offsets must be whole numbers from 0 to 365, with the earlier offset at least as large as the later one. A range beginning before 1900 is rejected. A zero-width window is allowed.
The calculation uses a date you supply. It does not verify your trip’s eligibility for the holiday sample. Reusing the published offsets outside 2026 is flagged as arithmetic only.
Reading the output
Historical statistics do not guarantee future fares or savings. A reported average low point is not a promised minimum for a route or a reason to postpone buying until that day.
Keep actual fares, total costs, ticket conditions, schedule, and availability in the decision. This application has no current prices, price predictions, specific flight recommendations, or booking services.
Print or download the calculated date checklist for your own reference. It includes the selected departure, comparison date, offsets, source, and limitations. Editing an input clears the old result so the checklist remains consistent.
Your inputs & privacy
The application runs entirely in your browser. It has no accounts, forms sent to a server, analytics, advertising, cookies, browser storage, or third-party scripts. Your dates are not written into the URL or saved between visits.
Downloading the checklist creates a local text file; printing uses your browser’s print dialog. Neither action sends inputs to us. Like other websites, the eventual hosting provider may retain standard access logs for page requests.
Official source links take you to Google, which has its own privacy practices. Window Atlas is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
Updates
Site and reference review: October 22, 2026. The statistics do not refresh automatically. A future update should recheck the official source, its scope, and the figures before changing a reference.
No search-volume estimates, testimonials, or savings guarantees are used. The site’s topic follows the published holiday report; the report does not establish demand for this particular tool.
